Reference Page:  Louis Dow Prentice and Florence Edna Rexstrew

Louis and Florence are the grandparents I grew up with.  I have many fond memories of them growing up in the house on Short Place.  I spent many a day fishing with my granddad, who had a real knack for catching bullhead. 

My grandmother had a speech impediment and it was always difficult for people to understand her.  (She had an accident as a child falling with a sucker stick in her mouth).  However, for the kids that grew up with her, it was never a problem.  We always jumped in whenever translation was needed.  It was just the way it was.

As a lover of fishing, my grandfather's favorite saying was, "You can't catch a fish when your bait's out of the water".   Who knew at the time that he was talking about life.

Multiple Spellings:

  1. Certain modifications in name spellings occur here. Actual marriage certificate is "Lewis Prentiss", while all other references have "Louis Prentice".
  2. Alternate Spellings for Rexstrew are Rextrew or Rakestraw.  Rakestraw is more common. Earlier references are Rakestraw.  300 Years of Bortons in North America has references to both with the same family group.
